Founded in 2012, the WRS are hosted in rotation among USA, Europe and Asia: this year, following the last edition in Rochester (New York, USA), the summit is hold in Milan for the first time ever in Italy.

Politecnico di Milano is the leading Italian technical university and is ranked n°7 worldwide for Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering (QS World University Raking).

The Manufacturing and Production System Lab is part of the Mechanical Engineering Department (POLIMI-MECC) and its main research topics are ranging from mechanical and technological characteristics of transformed materials to methodologies and tools for designing processes, planning, management and control of manufacturing and assembly systems.

The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association  (APRA), founded in Los Angeles on 1941, has about 1'000 member companies worldwide to support remanufacturing in the automotive sector.


The Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC), based in  Rochester (New York),  is a strategic alliance of businesses and academic institutions aimed at supporting the entire remanufacturing industry. 

The Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS), located on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology in Upstate New York, has the mission  to undertake world-class education and research in sustainability and global competitiveness of the manufacturing sector.


AFIL (Associazione Fabbrica Intelligente Lombardia) is the Lombardy Cluster for the Advanced Manufacturing. It is the outcome of a process driven by the Lombardy Region, aimed at creating a network of actors that favor the aggregation of the various regional players active in the field of Research and Innovation within the priority areas identified in the Regional Smart Specialization Strategy (S3).
